Description

Background:

At the 2019 REMC meeting, the membership discussed participation in WG meetings. Based on this discussion, the above-mentioned question is being sent to the MBs for approval via correspondence.

Extracted from REMC/417/RM:

19.4 WG/SG Membership and meeting attendance

The Deputy Secretary introduced the agenda item based on the data for the WG meetings that were scheduled to take place after the REMC meeting. Based on the evaluated data, it became obvious that more than half of the participants in the WG meetings would be observers and this could influence the balance during critical discussions.

The REMC participants agreed that and welcomed the idea to improve the current situation. Several convenors of WGs present at the meeting shared their experience which showed the same trend.

The Secretariat will prepare a document for vote seeking Member Body approval to request all MBs to review their WG participation and potentially withdraw endorsement for inactive participants and nominate participants who wish to actively be involved in the WG work.

Action:

The REMC Member Bodies to approve the request that all MBs are to review their WG/TF/SG participation and potentially withdraw endorsement for inactive participants and nominate participants who wish to actively be involved in the WG/TF/SG work. Ballots are to be returned to the IECRE Secretariat (secretariat@iecre.org) no later than 2020-01-20.

NOTE: USNC/IECRE ballots are to be submitted within thirty days to allow for resolution of any comments prior to the IEC deadline.
