Should the US vote to approve the WG 004 proposal for Standard IECRE presentation template and guidelines,", to be read in conjunction with REMC/381/DV Annex A?
Working Group 004 was created by Decision 13/2014 for informing international stakeholders of the IECRE and its activities as well as promoting engagement of all stakeholders.
The terms of reference of WG004 require to make the promotion of the IECRE services efficient and powerful.
One of the critical success factors enabling the IECRE system to become successful and powerful is to establish a consistent appearance in the market to create a positive brand image. It is therefore important that the audience in conferences, meetings etc. have the impression that IECRE presents itself with the same “look and feel” anywhere and anytime. This will create the image that standardization does not only refer to the genuine value proposition that IECRE is aiming to represent but that in addition, there is a consistent standard applied when it comes to presenting the IECRE system itself.
This requires a uniform presentation template to be used, and a minimum degree of guidelines to be followed.
During the 4th WG004 workshop held on 25/26 June 2019 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, the template and the guidelines for presentations have been discussed, and WG004 recommends that the REMC approves the templates and the guidelines to be used mandatorily by anyone presenting on behalf of IECRE.
In addition, following the 4th WG004 workshop, all members have then been given the opportunity to comment by 19 July 2019. The convener has received no comments.
WG004 submits the attached presentation template (see file REMC/381/DV – Annex A) and guidelines alongside with the following remarks:
1. IECRE presentations
– Different title pages are available, 2 for general RE purposes, 1 for marine, 2 for PV, and 1 for wind. Either one of the title pages contained in the guidelines can be used. Please always use the same title page and final page.
– Copyright of IECRE related presentations resides with IEC.
– Reference to sources shall always be made in footnotes.
– The presenter may add the logo of his/her organization on the title page, side-by-side to his/her title at his organization that (s)he represents.
– In addition to the above remarks, the guidelines in the attached presentation (filename CI-guidelines_IECRE_09-08-2019.pdf) apply.
2. 3rd party presentation
The IECRE participant presenting as a 3rd party with his/her organization presentation template can use the official IECRE logo on content that is IECRE related.
3. Event templates
In some cases, an event organizer will request that his template be used. Typically, in this situation, the cover page of the event organizer is used, and the event footer can else be used on otherwise IECRE templates.
4. Aspect ratio
Meanwhile, the 16:9 aspect ratio is becoming more and more popular. Therefore, the presenter can decide whether (s)he wants to use a 4:3 or a 16:9 aspect ratio for the presentation. The template is available for both.
The REMC Member Bodies to approve that 1) all participants and member bodies representing IECRE shall use the attached template (see separate file Annex A) only. In the event of a third party template, the IECRE logo can be used on those pages that contain IECRE relevant information, data etc. and 2) for presentations using the IECRE format, following the guidelines is endorsed and binding.
